Is WhatsApp blocked in China?

Answer four setup questions to get a specific phone, data, app-access, and Chinese-number action with a recovery path.
What “blocked” means in practice
A network provider can describe service access only for the connection it supplies. Airalo's current help material distinguishes local-network access from its own internationally routed plans. This page therefore treats WhatsApp access as connection-dependent and avoids a historical or universal service guarantee.
Check the named data plan
If WhatsApp is essential, require the provider to state that the exact China or regional plan supports it. Save those terms and follow that provider's installation and activation instructions. Do not infer routing from the word 'eSIM' alone.
Keep a communication fallback
Save your lodging phone number, airline contact, and arrival instructions offline. Agree on another contact method with the people who must reach you. This page does not make a general legal, availability, or reliability claim about VPN services.
Will people in China reach me on WhatsApp?
Ask the property, guide, or contact which current channel they monitor and save it before departure. Do not assume that a WhatsApp number is staffed or reachable from their network.
