Which eSIM should I use for China?

Next: decide how you'll stay online

Answer four setup questions to get a specific phone, data, app-access, and Chinese-number action with a recovery path.

What actually matters when choosing

  • Service access: use the provider's current China-plan documentation, not a generic eSIM comparison, to confirm any routing or app-access claim.
  • Phone support: confirm that the device supports eSIM and is not locked to your home carrier.
  • Data and validity: match the allowance and validity window to your trip, and check when the validity clock starts.
  • Hotspot and top-ups: confirm both in the exact plan terms if you need them; they are not universal eSIM features.

Treat routing as plan-specific

Airalo currently documents international routing and access to services such as Google and WhatsApp for its own China, regional Asia, and global eSIMs. That is evidence for those Airalo products only. Do not infer the same behavior for another provider or even a different plan without a current primary-source statement.

Routing, fair-use limits, activation rules, and supported services can change. Save the plan terms you relied on and re-check them close to departure.

Before you fly

  • Follow the provider's installation and activation instructions; do not assume every plan starts its validity clock at the same moment.
  • Keep your home line available for account recovery or one-time codes if your carrier and costs allow it.
  • Save offline directions, your lodging contact details, and another way to reach your travel contacts.
