Check the exact plan, not the SIM format

An eSIM is only the digital form of a SIM. It does not by itself establish where traffic is routed or which services are available. Use a current statement from the provider for the specific China or regional plan you will activate.

What primary provider evidence can establish

Airalo's current help page states that its China, regional Asia, and global eSIMs use international data routing and that a VPN is not required for the services named there. That is a provider-specific commitment. For another plan, require equally direct documentation or ask its support team in writing.

  • Confirm the product name, covered countries, validity rule, fair-use policy, and hotspot terms.
  • Save the provider response or plan terms you relied on in case support is needed after arrival.

About VPN claims

This page does not make a general legal, availability, or reliability claim about VPN services. If a provider says its named plan supplies the access you need, verify that claim with the provider. For critical tasks, also keep offline directions, lodging details, and another contact route.

A 60-second check before you fly

  • Open the exact plan page and confirm the services and routing it documents for China.
  • Check that your device supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked.
  • Save offline directions and translation material where the relevant app supports them; availability varies by region and feature.
