Getting around
Should I take an official airport taxi or use DiDi in China?

Airport ride comparison
Choose the path whose dependencies already work
An official taxi queue and a DiDi pickup fail in different ways. This sample compares destination, data, pickup, payment, and airport instructions without declaring one mode universally better.
Static labelled sample. No account details, phone numbers, addresses, selections, or free text are requested or stored.
Labelled sample · not a personal result
Labelled sample · official taxi independent of untested app payment
The hotel details work offline and the airport publishes an official taxi path; DiDi registration exists but airport pickup and payment remain untested.
Taxi versus DiDi readiness matrix
Use the airport-confirmed official taxi path as the provisional primary; keep DiDi secondary until pickup and payment are confirmed.
- Official airport taxiNeeds the current signed queue, provider-confirmed destination, an accepted payment path, and a way to resolve a destination mismatch.
- DiDiNeeds working data, account access, an accurate destination, current airport pickup instructions, driver contact, and in-app payment.
- Shared checkFor either mode, verify the exact hotel branch and follow the airport's current official pickup directions.
Bounded task states
Official taxi path ready
The airport confirms the current official queue and the traveller has offline destination and payment fallbacks.
DiDi path ready
Account, data, airport pickup instructions, destination pin, and in-app payment are confirmed for the trip.
Both paths ready
Each path has independently confirmed destination, pickup, and payment dependencies.
Neither path confirmed
At least one critical dependency is missing from both options.
Known
- The sample destination opens offline and the exact airport publishes an official taxi path.
Assumed
- The traveller can use a separately prepared payment fallback for the official taxi path.
Unknown
- Live queues, fares, driver availability, pickup-zone operation, payment acceptance, and trip duration.
Confirm with owner
- The exact airport, DiDi, the payment provider, and the property each confirm the dependency they own.
Prepare the hotel details you will need on arrival
Confirm the destination text you have. The check creates a driver card only from verified Chinese details and otherwise gives you a verification checklist.
Prepare my arrival detailsUse the route with fewer unresolved dependencies
- Official taxi: confirm the terminal's signed taxi queue, show the property-confirmed Chinese destination, and ask the responsible operator about payment conditions.
- DiDi: confirm working data, a usable account and payment path, the destination pin, and the pickup point shown by the app and airport instructions.
- Either path: verify the vehicle and destination using the operator's current process, and keep the property phone available for clarification.
Confirm the destination before choosing
Ask the lodging property or booking provider for its current Chinese name, full address, phone number, and exact branch. For DiDi, compare the selected pin and property name with those confirmed details. For a taxi, present the confirmed details without inventing a translation.
- Keep the English booking beside the Chinese driver-facing details.
- If the app shows several similar properties, ask the property or booking provider to resolve the branch or pin; a search result is not confirmation.
- If the destination remains unresolved, use an official staffed information path where available before beginning the trip.
Use a decision sequence at the terminal
- Read the airport's current ground-transport page and terminal signs for the official taxi queue and designated ride-hailing pickup area.
- Check whether your planned data, account, destination, and payment paths are working before choosing DiDi.
- If internet or account access fails, move to an official route that does not depend on that same failure and ask airport or transport staff where available.
- Keep a second confirmed path if the selected service is unavailable; do not infer a schedule, fare, or wait time from this general page.
Common questions
Is an airport taxi always cheaper than DiDi?
No universal comparison is reliable. Current operator pricing, traffic, demand, route, and any airport-specific conditions can change the result.
Should I use DiDi if my travel data is not working?
Treat DiDi as unavailable if you cannot reliably book, read the pickup instructions, verify the vehicle, or complete the payment path. Follow the airport's current official transport instructions instead.
